Direct-to-film (also known as DTF) is exactly what it sounds like. We print your artwork on a special film that can be heat pressed on a wide range of fabrics including, cotton, nylon, treated leather, polyester, 50/50 blends, and more (light and dark fabrics).

Instructions:

  • For best results, we recommend using a heat press to apply DTF transfers
  • Prepress garment for 5-10 sec to remove moisture and wrinkles
  • Press at 300-320°F (for cotton or blends) or 260-270°F (for polyester) for 10-15 seconds
  • Peel the film in hot. Your design might feel slightly sticky and thick after being peeled, this is normal!
  • This is where the magic happens (and where you can experiment!) - once DTF transfers are peeled, re-press for 5-10 sec to lock in your apparel.
  • Use different materials, like Teflon or parchment, for different results.

Image Guidelines:

  • Ensure the original image is at least 300 dpi and in PNG, SVG, or PDF format.
  • Be cautious when enlarging a 300dpi image (e.g., from 3" to 9") and exporting it to prevent pixelation and quality issues.
  • Color shifts may occur when converting to CMYK for DTF printing.
  • Do not mirror your image, and opt for transparent or removed backgrounds unless you intend for the background to be printed.
  • For small fonts or thin lines, we recommend a minimum of 7.5px/0.25" to ensure proper ink and powder application.
  • Avoid using neon glow, gradients, and soft edges, as DTF printers may encounter difficulties in accurately reproducing these designs.
  • Keep in mind that we print exactly what we receive; our team does not fix spelling, placement, sizing, or image quality issues.
